Industrial products worth 99.6 trillion soums were manufactured in Uzbekistan within nine months of 2017, which is 4.1 percent more than in the same period of 2016, according to the country’s State Committee on Statistics.
A number of factors positively affected the growth of industrial production, the committee said.
Thus, the growth in mining and quarrying industry amounted to 10 percent, and its share in the structure of the gross value added of the industry rose to 20.3 percent (17.8 percent in January-September 2016).
This was influenced by the introduction of additional capacities for the extraction of natural gas, stable operation of facilities of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, as well as facilities for the development of quarries.
As a result, the volume of gas condensate production grew 6.5 percent, services for mounting, repair of drilling rigs and associated services for oil and natural gas production grew 92.5 percent, production of gravel - by 20.7 percent, rubble - by 11.8 percent.
Growth in the manufacturing industry was 2.5 percent, and its share in the structure of the gross value added of the industry was 70.4 percent.
The growth was achieved due to the increase in production volumes at the facilities for the manufacture, repair, installation of machinery and equipment, production of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, other finished metal products, mainly at the expense of the units of Uzavtosanoat JSC.
At the same time, the volume of car production (excluding specialized cars) grew by 90.8 percent.
Growth in supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning in the reporting period amounted to 4.8 percent (their share in the structure of the gross value added of the industry amounted to 8.5 percent).
The main factors were the increase in production volumes of divisions of the Uzbekenergo JSC and facilities of the Uztransgaz JSC, which led to a 13 percent increase in the volume of production and distribution of gaseous fuel, and a 5.8 percent increase in the volume of production and distribution of electricity generated by thermal power plants.
The volume of services in water supply, sewerage, waste collection and utilization increased by 17.3 percent, this volume accounts for 0.8 percent in the total volume of industry.
The increase in the volume of the above mentioned services was caused by a 14.4 percent increase in services for processing and distribution of water through water pipes, and an 11 percent increase in services for the removal, transportation of wastewater and its processing.
At the same time, the decrease in the output of goods in a number of other sectors had a negative impact on the level of the industrial production index.
Thus, manufacture of food products, beverages, and tobacco products decreased by 1.8 percent. The decrease was caused by a 7.2 percent reduction in sugar production and an 8.4 percent reduction in the manufacture of tobacco products.
The production of textiles, clothing and leather products decreased by 0.6 percent, mainly due to a three percent decrease in cotton fiber production.
The manufacture volume of chemical, rubber and plastic products decreased by 1.8 percent, which was due to a 19.8 percent decrease in carbamide production, a 4.8 percent decrease in ammonium nitrate production, a 18.1 percent decrease in anhydrous ammonia production and a 18.5 percent decrease in ammonium sulfate production.
The share of these sectors in the manufacturing industry was 57 percent, in the total industry volume - 45 percent.
