Trend:

Iran plans to increase fuel quota by 30 percent for trucks transporting goods through ports starting from September 22 this year.

"Considering that the current fuel quota is not sufficient, the oil ministry agreed to increase fuel quota for transportation fleet that transfers goods from or to the Iranian ports by 30 percent," said Secretary of the National Association of State Truckers Ahmad Karimi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"While the officials insist on immediate unloading of cargoes in ports, the necessary fuel for transportation is not provided, so the oil ministry should revise its decisions," he noted.

"Unfortunately, the ministry has approved the fuel quota based on the scope of transportation. Since the cargo volume varies from month to month, this quota does not meet the real needs of truckers," he added.

In his words, the punctuality of trucks in transporting goods from ports is also important, so the fuel issue should be discussed and addressed jointly by truckers and experts.

"The fuel card for some part of the transportation fleet was deactivated to prevent fuel smuggling. Meanwhile, the needs of the truck drivers can not be ignored on the pretext of combating the fuel smuggling. The goods delivered to ports should be immediately unloaded to trucks," Karimi said.
