Agrarian Credit & Development Agency talks subsidies issued to Azerbaijani farmers

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5

As of June 1, 502,815 Azerbaijani farmers were registered in the e-agriculture information system (EKTIS), the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture told Trend.

“The total number of households registered in EKTIS has reached 614,564,” the agency said. "As of June 1, farmers received subsidies worth 191.9 million manat [$112.9 million]. As many as 372,435 farmer cards were ordered till June 1, of which 369,985 were issued to farmers."

On April 14, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the allocation of funds to improve the process of providing agricultural producers with microloans in terms of the coronavirus pandemic and in the further period.

In accordance with the decree, 30 million manat ($17.6 million) envisaged in the state budget for 2020 are allocated from the Azerbaijani Presidential Reserve Fund to the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture for the issuance of non-guarantee loans in the agricultural sector to meet the needs of agricultural producers for funds during the coronavirus pandemic and in the post-pandemic period.
