By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Tatarstan of the Russian Federation plans to increase the volume of barley exports to $50 million to Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan by 2024, Trend reports with reference to Tatar-inform.

Tatarstan plans to export barley, because it produces more than it consumes. In particular, the production of barley in Tatarstan is about 1.5 million tons, and consumption is 500,000 tons.

So, about 1 million tons of barley Tatarstan can export to different countries at the moment. Currently, Tatarstan has increased the export of barley to Iran from 50,000 tons to 100,000-120,000 tons.

As earlier Tatarstan Investment Development Agency (TIDA) told Trend, Russia’s Tatarstan and Turkmenistan are actively developing cooperation in the trade and economic field, contributing to an increase in trade turnover.

"Foreign trade turnover amounted to $33.2 million in 1Q2020," the agency said.

Tatarstan exported rubber products and land transport to Turkmenistan for the total amount of $26.5 million in the reporting period.

In turn, during the reporting period, Tatarstan imported plastic products for the total amount of $6.7 million from Turkmenistan.

Meanwhile, the volume of export and import operations last year show that in 2019, the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan amounted to more than $120 million.
