BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. Azerbaijan’s AzerGold CJSC has exported 287,000 ounces of gold and 530,000 ounces of silver to the international market since the beginning of its operation, Khayam Farzaliyev, deputy board chairman of the company, said, Trend reports.
Farzaliyev made the remark at the presentation of the book "Exploration of minerals and the foundations of the mining industry" being held in Baku.
According to him, revenues of the state budget of Azerbaijan from the sale of precious metals for five years amounted to nearly 757 million manat ($445.3 million).
"Currently, at the Chovdar gold deposit, Dashkasan district, and the open gold deposits - Agekhush 1 and Marakh, work on transfer from the oxide to the sulfide phase is underway," the company’s official noted. "As a result of geological exploration work carried out by us in the Dashkasan district last year, another potential gold deposit, Narimanly, has been discovered, and geological research is currently underway on this deposit."
Along with Farzaliyev, the Head of the National Geological Exploration Service under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Ali Aliyev and the Deputy Board Chairman of the State Agency for the Use of Mineral Resources under the ministry Azer Shukurov are also taking part in the presentation.
