BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 8. Generally, Iran imported 80,500 tons of goods worth approximately $75.5 million from African countries from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022) to January 1, 2023, Deputy Chairman of the Iranian-African Businessmen's Club Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports.

According to him, in total, Iran imported goods from 22 countries of the African continent during the reporting period.

“Among the African countries, Iran imported 50,000 tons of goods worth $19.5 million from Tanzania, which accounted for 26 percent of Iran's total imports from the mentioned countries in value and 62 percent in volume,” Latifi said.

The deputy chairman added that Iran also imported goods worth $14.8 million from Kenya, worth $11.5 million from the Republic of South Africa, worth $6.56 million from Ghana, and worth $6 million from Seychelles within the mentioned period.

He also noted that the mentioned 4 countries accounted for 78 percent of Iran's total imports from African countries in value and 81 percent in volume.

Overall, Iran's non-oil trade turnover with African countries for the reporting period amounted to 2.29 million tons worth approximately $1.17 million.
