World Bank mission on agricultural development and crediting due in Baku

The visit of the World Bank mission headed by the expert Frauke Yungblut is expected in the second half of January within the framework of the project "Development and crediting of the agriculture in Azerbaijan, funded by the World Bank jointly with the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD). The World Bank mission goal is development and assessment of works, which implementation is envisaged during the project second phase, the Agriculture Ministry told Trend.

The agreement on the project implementation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank was signed in 1999. However, the implementation started only in the second quarter 2002. During the first stage $33,6 million has been allocated for the project implementation. The projects cost for 10 years is $100 million.

The project envisions registration of the farmers immovable property, establishment of regional departments for land registering and the farmers households crediting. The projects first stage is finished and according to the data received from the state agency the second stage is planned to be started since the next year worth at least $20 million.
