Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 3 / Trend /

In January-November 2008, the U.S. imported 24.4 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan, compared to 16.5 million barrels for the analogous period in 2007, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said.

The EIA said the U.S. imported 20.6 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan in 2007, compared to 9.7 million barrels in 2006.

The main export route for Azerbaijani oil is the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, which delivers oil to the Turkish port of Ceyhan. Azeri light oil is also pumped through the Baku-Supsa pipeline and exported via the Georgian port of Supsa. The oil is similarly exported from the Georgian Black Sea port of Batumi after railway delivery from Baku and from Novorossiysk where it is transported via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.
