Twenty million tons of Azeri Light transported through Turkey in January

In January, roughly 20.2 million barrels of Azeri Light oil were transported from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline through Turkey. The figure hit 19.6 million barrels in December 2008, the Turkish Botas state pipeline company reported.

In 2008, roughly 264 million barrels of Azeri Light were transported via BTC through Turkey.

The total length of the BТС is 1.768 kilometers, including a 443-kilometer section running via >. The construction of the pipeline commenced in April 2003. The pipeline was commissioned on May 18, 2005.

BTC shareholders include: BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); Chevron (8.90 percent); Statoil Hydro (8.71 percent); ТРАО (6.53 percent); Eni (5 percent); Total (5 percent); Itochu (3.40 percent); Inpex (2.50 percent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent); and Hess (2.36 percent).
