The State Committee on standardization, metrology and patent introduced new quality standards for manufacturing straight-run fuel oil in Azerbaijan, Mammadaliyev Institute of Petrochemical Processes Laboratory for Standardization of Oil and Petrochemical Products Director Gasim Gasimov said on May 15.
"The new standard has been confirmed and submitted to Azneftyag oil refinery plant. The plant now manufactures this product in line with the standard submitted," Gasimov said.
The straight-run fuel oil manufactured at Azneftyag is used as raw material for catalytic cracking rig [which produces petrol factions and liquefied gas] at the Heydar Aliyev oil refinery plant. "This product cannot be used in other purposes," Gasimov said.
Gasimov did not name technological parameters of this oil product.
Earlier, straight-run fuel oil was manufactured on the base of GOST standard [established during the Soviet period].
Azerbaijan produces oil products at its two oil refinery plants based in Baku with the total capacity of 20 million tons of oil a year. Both plants are part of SOCAR, which annually refines roughly 7 million tons of oil produced from onshore and offshore fields independently.
