Turkey increases gas imports

In January-April, the Turkish State Pipeline Company Botas imported about 15.8 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources compared to 14.02 billion cubic meters in January-April 2011, the Botas official website reported on Monday.

Turkey also imports gas from Azerbaijan, which is supplied via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline.

In 2011, the Turkish State Pipeline Company Botas imported more than 39.7 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources compared to about 32.5 billion cubic meters in 2010.

Some 174 million cubic meters of gas fell to Botas's export operations in January-April compared to 251 million cubic meters during the same period of 2011.

Some 16.02 billion cubic meters of gas were sold in January-April 2012 on the Turkish domestic market compared to 14.75 billion during the same period of 2011.

About 39.4 billion cubic meters of gas were sold on the Turkish domestic market in 2011 compared to about 31.5 billion cubic meters in 2010.
