Kazakhstan produced 6.5 million tons of crude oil in January 2018, which is 8.5 percent more, compared to the same period of January 2017.
The regions, leading in oil production in Kazakhstan in January 2018 are Atyrau region (3.9 million tons, 15.9 percent more year over year), Mangistau region (1.5 million tons, 1 percent more year over year), Energy Prom reported.
In January-February 2018, the volume of oil production in Kazakhstan amounted to 12.5 million tons, increasing by 8.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
The value of oil production in January 2018 reached 977.5 billion tenge.
Kazakhstan plans to produce 87 million tons of oil in 2018. The main increase in oil production in 2018 is expected, mainly due to the Kashagan field with 11 million tons production plan.
Oil production in Kyzylorda and Aktobe regions is expected to decline due to late development and natural depletion of the fields.
The main increase in oil production in 2017 was also associated with the Kashagan field (8.2 million tons), as well as with increased production at the Tengiz and Karachaganak fields.
