Iran eyes to establish 3-rd petrochemical hub at Persian Gulf coast

Iran National Petrochemical Company (NPC) plans to establish a new hub in Persian Gulf coast, the company's CEO Behzad Mohammadi said, Trend reports via IRNA.

The Parsian Energy Intensive Industrial Special Economic Zone can be a third petrochemical hub to boost the industry and attract investors, he said.

"The activities at the zone have been remarkable in the petrochemical sector,” he noted.

“The variety of liquid and gas condensate feed is one of the investment attractions in petrochemical sector, and it also created a productive industry in the country," he said.

“Due to technical infrastructure and closeness to the sea and airport, feed sources in Asalouyeh region, the Parsian Energy Intensive Industrial Special Economic Zone can be a new hub in the petrochemical industry," Mohammadi said.

The Parsian Energy Intensive Industrial Special Economic Zone in the Hormozgan Province can be defined as a third new hub in petrochemical industry that can be operated through cooperation with Ministry of Oil, and Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.

"The implementation plans to increase variety of gas feed and production can ensure regional investors that the project is not risky," said Mohammadi.

The official believes that large gas reservoirs and feed, access to sea resources at southern coasts and location near maritime transportation routes are the advantages of Iran that could be an attractive in terms of petrochemical investments.

The Parsian Energy Intensive Industrial Special Economic Zone is a 9,800 hectares area located in west of Parsian city at Hormuzgan province and considered as one of Iran's development hubs that can establish various energy industries due to its economic, social, political, environmental and security features.

Due to Iran's so-called economic resistance policy , implementation of new plans have increased the petrochemical production capacities to 65,500 million tons and the country's exports revenues in this sector is estimated to be more than $13 billion.
