In the first half of 2019, Azerenergy OJSC increased the production and export of electricity compared to the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to Azerenergy.
Azerenergy has exported 648 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, which is 24 million kilowatt-hours more than in the same period last year.
Electricity production also increased. In the first half of this year, production amounted to 11.544 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. This is 521 million kilowatt-hours more compared to the same period last year.
In comparison with the same period in 2018, the demand for electricity in the reporting period in 2019 increased by 586 million kilowatt-hours. As reported, this is due to an increase in the growth of the population as well as the number multi-storey buildings, industrial enterprises and agroparks. Azerishig OJSC states that only in the first half of 2019, more than 12,000 new subscribers connected to the power grid.
Increased demand, in turn, led to the development of new capacities, restoration of "lost" capacities in power plants, and increase of the reliability of the power system through introduction of modern technologies. Reconstruction and repair work at 12 power plants and 17 substations are carried out, in accordance with the “Rehabilitation Program”.
The SKADA dispatching control system is also being renovated, which will cover 35 power plants and 150 substations. In order to limit and completely eliminate possible accidents, computer technologies and a complex of emergency control automation are being introduced in the Azerbaijan energy system.
