Planning for the drilling of the first exploration well on Shafag-Asiman field continues in Azerbaijan, Trend reports referring to BP report on the results of the company activity in January-June 2019.
Current plans are to commence drilling works later this year.
On Block D230, BP is planning to commence 3D seismic survey works in the fourth quarter of 2019. Based on the results of the seismic survey, BP may begin drilling of the first exploration well in 2020.
BP and Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR signed PSA for joint exploration of the prospective block D230 in the North Absheron basin in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea on April 26, 2018.
The parties have equal equity shares in the agreement.
The D230 block covers areas in a water depth of up to 300 meters with the reservoir depth of 3,000-5,000 meters. Presumably, there is an oil reservoir.
