Amount of water in Iran's dams decreasing

The volume of water in Iran's dams decreased by 28 percent from the beginning of the current water year (September 22, 2020) to June 18, 2021, compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the statistics of Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to the statistics, water reserves in Iran’s large dams amounted to 27.5 billion cubic meters. While in the same period last water year, there were 38.5 billion cubic meters of water in Iran's dams.

“The capacity of Iran's dams is 50.5 billion cubic meters. Thus, 55 percent of Iran's dams are full,” the statistics said.

In addition, the inflow of water into the dams with natural precipitation amounted to 26.4 billion cubic meters from the beginning of the current water year to June 18, which is 47 percent less than the same period last year. So, 50.7 billion cubic meters of water inflow the dams in the same period last year, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, water outflow from Iran's dams also decreased by 35 percent. So, 25.9 billion cubic meters of water was inflow from the country's dams within the mentioned period.
