Kazakhstan’s power plants generated 57.3 billion kWh of electricity in 1H2021, which is 7.1 percent more than in the same period in 2020, Trend reports citing Samruk Energy JSC.
Generation growth was observed in all zones of the Unified Energy System (UES) of Kazakhstan.
The volume of electricity production by the energy producing organizations of Samruk Energy JSC amounted to 17.8 billion kWh over the reporting period, which is 25.8 percent more than last year's indicators for the same period.
At the same time, according to the company’s data, the electricity consumption increased by 6 percent over 1H2021 in comparison with the indicators of the same period in 2020.
Thus, in the northern regions of the country, the consumption increased by 6 percent, in the southern by 10 percent and in the western by 2 percent.
Experts of Samruk Energy JSC note that according to the forecast balance of electricity and capacity for the period from 2021 through 2027 by Kazakh Ministry of Energy, the electricity consumption will grow by an average of 2.4 percent.
In addition, a shortage of electric power is forecast by 2027, taking into account the required reserve in the amount of about 898 MW. At the same time, there is a deficit of regulation capacity of about 1000 MW within the Kazakh UES.
