BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. Iran's gas production will increase by 45 billion cubic meters, during the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Majid Chegeni told reporters, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.
He made the remark at the 26th International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition in Tehran on May 15, 2022.
The deputy minister noted that the increase will be achieved through extraction from the 11th and 14th phases of the South Pars gas field.
“Thus, the country will produce a total of 278 billion cubic meters of gas this year,” he said.
Chegeni also added that Iran consumes an average of 250 billion cubic meters of gas a year. There are 24.5 million gas subscribers in the country.
The CEO emphasized that Iran exported 17 billion cubic meters of gas last Iranian year, which is an increase of 2 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).
On May 14, 2022, the 26th International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition opened in Tehran and will last for 3 days.
