Uzbek Central Bank revealed data on cross-border money transfers

The volume of cross-border transfers received for Uzbekistan over the past nine months of 2020 amounted to $4.3 billion, and the amount of remittances increased to $638 million, which is eight percent more than in the same period last year, Trend reports citing data of Central Bank.

The Central Bank said that this indicates a balanced volume of international money transfers.

According to the data, the volume of purchases of foreign currency by individuals amounted to $3.2 billion, and the size of the sale reached $2.9 billion.

The balance of foreign currency in cash for the current period in the cash desks of commercial banks on foreign exchange transactions with individuals amounted to $480-550 million. In this connection, the Central Bank announced to provide additional funds for these operations.

For the first half of the year, the volume of remittances received in the country amounted to $2.4 billion, decreasing compared to the same period last year by $156 million, or six percent.

Earlier, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan approved new regulations on currency transactions. The rules were developed in accordance with international practice and determined a unified procedure for their implementation through the unification of five normative legal acts in the field of currency regulation.
