BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 10. In April 2024, the number of passengers arriving at Türkiye's Istanbul Airport increased by 17 percent year-on-year to 24.26 million, Trend reports via the country's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
According to the ministry, the airport's passenger turnover for domestic flights in April 2024 increased by 14 percent compared to the same period in 2023 and amounted to 5.05 million people, and for international flights - by 18 percent and amounted to 19.2 million people.
The airport's cargo turnover in April 2024 totaled 986,846 tons, an increase of 15 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
In addition, the airport's cargo turnover for domestic flights in April 2024 increased by 11 percent compared to the same period in 2023 and amounted to 59,664 tons, while for international flights, it increased by 15 percent compared to the same period and amounted to 927,182 tons.
According to the information, the number of flights from the airport in April 2024 increased by 12 percent compared to April 2023 and amounted to 163,028.
At the same time, the number of domestic flights performed increased by 2 percent (to 36,615), while the number of international flights increased by 15 percent (to 126,413).
In April this year, passenger traffic in all airports in Türkiye amounted to 61.8 million people, and cargo turnover was 1.37 million tons.
To note, in 2023, passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye amounted to more than 214 million people, and cargo turnover amounted to 4.2 million tons.
