BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 10. Kyrgyzstan plans to export up to 10,000 tons of fresh cherries to China this year, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, this decision was made following a meeting between cherry producers and exporters. During the meeting, various pertinent issues were discussed, including cherry cultivation, harvest collection, calibration, transportation, and measures for pest and disease protection.

To note, the Kyrgyz State Statistical Committee does not separately distinguish cherries; instead, it provides unified information on the overall export of apricots, cherries, peaches, plums, and quinces. Throughout the entire previous year, only 120 tons of these fruits were sent to China.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan's trade with China amounted to $1.059 billion from January through February 2024, marking a 72.7 percent increase compared to the corresponding months of 2023 ($613.635 million). China remains the largest trade partner of Kyrgyzstan; its share of Kyrgyzstan's total trade accounted for 47 percent during the first two months of 2024.
