BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 20. The total assets of Azerbaijani banks increased as of early March 2022, Trend reports referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, this indicator amounted to 38.4 billion manat ($22.6 billion), up by 1.3 percent in monthly terms.

Besides, the total liabilities and balance capital of the local banks also grew – by 1.4 percent and 0.7 percent, settling at 33.4 billion manat ($19.6 billion) and slightly over five billion manat ($2.9 billion), respectively.

In February this year, the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks amounted to 17.1 billion manat ($10 billion), which is 345.1 million manat or $203 million (2.1 percent) more than in the previous month. Totally, since February 2021, the loan portfolio of the banks rose by 22.1 percent.

Meanwhile, the share of overdue loans decreased by 24.8 percent on annual basis - to 690.1 million manat ($405.9 million).

In the structure of liabilities, through the specified period, the deposit portfolio prevailed (81 percent of the total liabilities). The banks' deposit portfolio grew by 101.5 million manat ($59.7 million), or 0.4 percent (amounting to 27 billion manat or $15.8 billion).
