Türkiye reckons volume of cargo accepted by country's ports in April 2024

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. Türkiye's ports handled 34.3 million tons of cargo in April 2024, the statement of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.

During this period, cargo traffic to inland ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.3 million tons.

“Cargo traffic of vessels under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 32 million tons,” the statement says.

Moreover, a total of 6 million tons of transit cargo were transported from Turkish ports in April 2024.

According to the ministry, Türkiye's ports accepted 137.1 million tons of cargo from January through April 2024.

“The acceptance of cargo from Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 10 million tons, and the transportation of cargo to Turkish ports by vessels under the flags of other countries amounted to 127 million tons,” the statement notes.

The statement indicates that from January through April 2024, 22.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye.

To note, the ports of Türkiye accepted 4,756 vessels in April 2024.

Information shows that during this period, the number of vessels accepted in Turkish ports under the flags of other countries amounted to 3,329, and the number of vessels accepted under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 427,000.

Meanwhile, Türkiye's ports received 18,477 vessels from January through April 2024.

"During this period, vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 12,704, and vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 5,773," the ministry statement says.
