Türkiye estimates volume of cargo from France handled by its ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. A total of 2.3 million tons of cargo were transported from France to Türkiye's ports from January through April 2024, the statement of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry, Turkish-flagged vessels delivered 659,442 tons of cargo to French ports, while vessels under the flags of other countries - 1.6 million tons.

During this period, French-flagged vessels did not deliver any cargo to Türkiye's ports. Approximately, 163,973 tons of transit cargo were transported to Türkiye's ports from France from January through April 2024.

Additionally, it should be noted that in April 2024, Türkiye's ports received 34.3 million tons of cargo.

The reception of cargoes to domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.3 million tons during this period.

“Cargo shipments of vessels under the flags of other countries to Türkiye's ports amounted to 32 million tons,” the statement of the ministry reads.

Besides, 6 million tons of transit cargo were transported.

The ministry noted that from January through April 2024, Türkiye's ports received 137.1 million tons of cargo.

“Cargo traffic by vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 10 million tons. However, by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo traffic to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 127 million tons,” the statement notes.

The statement indicates that 22.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through April 2024.

Meanwhile, Türkiye's ports accepted 4,756 vessels in April 2024

The information shows that during this period, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by the ports of Türkiye amounted to 3,329, while the number of vessels under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 427,000.

To note, Türkiye's ports received 18,477 vessels from January through April 2024.

“During this period, vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Türkiye's ports amounted to 12,704 and vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 5,773,” the statement of the ministry reads.
