Türkiye discloses volume of cargo transshipped from UK through its ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. A total of 2.49 million tons of cargo were transported from the UK to Turkish ports from January through April 2024, Trend reports via the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye.

According to the ministry, Türkiye flagged vessels delivered 19,556 tons of cargo to ports from the UK, while vessels under the flags of other countries delivered 2.45 million tons.

During this period, 17,550 tons of cargo were delivered to Turkish ports by UK-flagged vessels. From January through April 2024, a total of 240,584 tons of transit cargo were transported to Turkish ports from the UK.

In April 2024, Türkiye ports received 34.39 million tons of cargo.

During this period, the reception of cargo to domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.36 million tons.

“Cargo shipments of vessels under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 32.03 million tons,” the ministry said in a statement.

In addition, 6.07 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye in April 2024.

According to the ministry, Türkiye ports received 137.17 million tons of cargo from January through April 2024.

“Cargo traffic by vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 10.07 million tons. And by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo traffic to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 127.1 million tons,” the report said.

According to the report, from January through April 2024, a total of 22.93 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye in 2024.

In April 2024, the ports of Türkiye received 4,756 vessels.

Based on the information, during this period, the number of ships accepted by Turkish ports under the flags of other countries amounted to 3,329, and under the flag of Türkiye - 427,000.

Türkiye ports received 18,477 vessels from January through April 2024.

“During this time, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 12,704 and vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 5,773,” the ministry said in a statement.
