BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Only 42 percent of Tajikistan's population used mobile internet in 2023, Spectrum Policy Manager at GSMA, Luiz Felippe Zoghbi said during the GSMA M360 Eurasia 2024 conference in Baku, Trend reports.
According to the information provided, in Tajikistan, 48 percent of the population has access to mobile internet but does not use it, and 10 percent are out of range.
Meanwhile, Tajikistan ranks penultimate among Central Asian countries in terms of the number of mobile internet users; only Turkmenistan, with 39 percent of the population, has lower figures.
"In Eurasia, only 5 percent of the population was not covered by mobile networks by 2023. About 37 percent have access to mobile internet but do not use it," the representative of GSMA said.
To note, the GSMA M360 Eurasia 2024 international conference is taking place in Baku, spanning from May 15 through May 16. Azercell serves as the general sponsor of the conference, with support from the Ministry of Digital Development and Transportation of Azerbaijan. This event gathers leading experts, regulators, heads of mobile operators, IT corporations, high-ranking politicians, and other participants. Baku is hosting the M360 Eurasia conference for the second time.
