Guaranteed wheat purchasing from local farmers in Iran’s Khuzestan Province revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. More than 1.28 million tons of guaranteed wheat were purchased by farmers in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran from April 10 through May 15, the Director General of Iran’s Government Trading Corporation’s branch in Khuzestan Province Omid Jahan Nejadian said, Trend reports.

According to him, on average, more than 50,000 tons of wheat are purchased daily from farmers in Khuzestan province.

Jahan Nejadian added that 830,000 tons of wheat were purchased by the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran and more than 450,000 tons by the provincial branch of the state trading company and the private sector.

The official noted that in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), more than 1.72 million tons of guaranteed wheat were purchased from farmers in Iran's Khuzestan province.

To note, during the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), 1 kg of wheat in Iran is guaranteed to be purchased by the state trading company for 175,000–180,000 rials (about $4.17–$4.3).
