BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. High taxes remain an obstacle to the availability of the Internet for the population, Beeline Uzbekistan CEO Andrzej Malinowski said during the "Policies for Thriving Connectivity Ecosystem" panel session at the GSMA M360 Eurasia 2024 conference, Trend reports.
He noted that Beeline is the only private operator in Uzbekistan.
“Development prerequisites are essential for any technology to flourish, a matter the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan is actively addressing. Conversely, the primary concern remains tax reduction. The burden of high taxes continues to hinder internet accessibility for the populace,” the CEO added.
To note, the GSMA M360 Eurasia 2024 international conference is taking place in Baku, spanning from May 15 through May 16.
