Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 March / Trend corr S. Babayeva/ Microsoft corporation revealed a high availability of unlicensed software in Azerbaijan. The specific weight of unlicensed software in the market achieves 94%, the Director General of Microsoft Azerbaijan Teymur Akhundov said.
"The level of pirate software is very high in Azerbaijan and that often causes negative image for the country in the international community," he said.
According to Akhundov, Microsoft's task is to help Azerbaijan to improve the situation and to spread licensed software.
"We hope that the situation will improve in future," Akhundov said.
Previously, Azerbaijan's Communications & IT Ministry applied to the Government for purchase of licensed software.
"Within the framework of the envisaged strategic agreement on cooperation with Microsoft, Azerbaijan undertakes the obligations to install licensed Microsoft software in the state-owned enterprises," the Ministry said.
