Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 15 / Trend , S.Babayeva /
Internet-users in Azerbaijan will feel reduction in tariffs prices soon. This decision was made by the Tariff Council and will enact into law on Jan. 15, Communication and IT Minister Ali Abbasov said.
"Most providers have already cut prices by 50-60 percent. The analyses show that still these prices are high," Abasov said.
In December
2008 the Tariff Council of Azerbaijan made the decision to reduce tariffs on
digital channels, necessary for rendering Internet services. Thus, the cost of
use of 2 MGB/second flogged intra-urban digital channel (port) for other
subscribers (with exception of budgetary organizations) were reduced from 1,200
manat to 600 manat (50 percent), monthly pay for its use - from 320 manat to
300 manat (6.3 percent), the cost for connection and monthly use (excepting
Baku) - from 240 manat to 200 manat.
Council also reduced tariffs for use of 2 MGB/second flogged channels for each
complete and incomplete 50 km from 180 manat to 150 manat (16.7 percent).
According to the minister, reduction in tariffs in the shortest period is
unreal, since their sharp decrease can negatively influence small Internet
providers.
