Turkmenistan consults with international partners on transportation issues

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 22. Turkmenistan is taking part in the High-Level Euro-Asia Regional Review Meeting of the Vienna Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries for the Decade 2014–2024, Trend reports.

According to the official source, the event took place from August 22 through 23 in Bangkok, Thailand, and brought together representatives of the UN, the heads of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and others, as well as government bodies of the countries of the Eurasian region.

Participants discuss and share experiences on progress, challenges, opportunities, and best solutions for improving transit and trade facilitation both in landlocked developing countries and in their transit neighbors.

A separate topic was the provision of uninterrupted and stable communication with the help of transport infrastructure and information and communication technologies.

Deputy Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Batyr Annaev, made a presentation on the creation of sustainable transport and digital connectivity in the country in the context of programmatic measures to digitalize all spheres of the economy, the introduction of electronic services, and the technological transformation of industries.

Meanwhile, the development of the transport sector in Turkmenistan is one of the country's key priorities. The country is actively working to modernize and expand its transport infrastructure in order to ensure sustainable economic growth and stimulate regional cooperation.
