Reconstruction of the airport at the Kazakh city of Taraz will be completed by the spring of 2014, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with reference to head of the Zhambyl region Kanat Bozumbayev.
"This year we started the reconstruction of the airport in the city of Taraz. We will complete the reconstruction of the runways by late November when their length will reach 3.5 kilometres and will be able to accept all types of large aircraft. As much as 3.4 billion tenge was allocated to this project, "Bozumbayev said at a briefing at the central communications service under the Kazakh president.
Moreover, according to the regional head, the passenger terminal will be reconstructed. The project will cost 1.8 billion tenge (154.28 tenge =$1) and is expected to be completed by the spring of 2014.
"This new passenger terminal will cover an area of 5500 square metres," Kanat Bozumbayev said.
