BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 2. The trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan amounted to $1.5 billion in 2022, Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of Russia, said, following the Business and Investment Partnership between Russia and Tajikistan conference, held in Dushanbe, Trend reports via Russian media.

“Russia and Tajikistan are bound by the strong relations of strategic partnership and cooperation. The trade and economic interaction between the countries is increasing rapidly. The trade turnover increased by 18 percent and amounted to $1.5 billion. And, while it is a record indicator for the last twenty years, it is not that much,” the Russian PM said.

Mishustin pointed out that Russia is one of the largest investors in Tajikistan’s economy. The accumulated mutual investments exceeded $1.5 billion.

According to him, Russian companies are actively working in backbone sectors of Tajik economy, which are: construction, energy, industry, communication and finance. The countries are also strengthening cooperation in healthcare, education and tourism.

In addition, Mishustin added that Russia and Tajikistan are expanding cooperation in light industry, mining and metallurgical industry.

The PM noted that the conference is being held for the ninth time and has over a thousand participants. Representatives of sixteen Russian regions and more than two hundred companies arrived in Dushanbe.
