The International Ocean Institute (IOI) with the support of Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry and the State Enterprise on Caspian Sea Issues under the President of Turkmenistan is holding a seminar in Avaza, titled “Caspian Sea – sustainable development and management”, which will last until March 16, the Turkmen government said in a message.
Experts of various ministries and authorities of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan, as well as international experts – scientific consultants of the IOI in the field of the maritime economy, politics, management, ecology, maritime law and other disciplines are invited to the event.
Systematic training, improvement of skills of specialists engaged in the activities related to the Caspian Sea – the oil and gas sector, hydrometeorology, fishery, tourism, environmental protection, maritime transport, border services, foreign affairs and others – is one of the partnership formats of the Caspian basin countries, says the message.
The program of the current training includes a wide range of issues directly related to the economic, social and environmental aspects of development of the Caspian region states, their cooperation in these areas.
The International Ocean Institute (IOI) is a world leading independent, non-governmental non-profit organisation conducting training and capacity building in Ocean Governance globally. It aims to train young and mid-career practitioners in contemporary approaches to coastal and ocean management, with an emphasis on the moral, ethical and legal values in Ocean Governance (equity and peaceful uses of the ocean).
The IOI enjoys special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and consultative status at some of UN’s Specialized Agencies.
