BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Uzbekistan has exported some 4,400 tons of prunes worth $6.9 million from January through February 2023, which is an increase of 43.6 percent, compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee.

During the period, Uzbekistan overall exported 135,600 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $116.4 million, decreasing by 1.2 times or 28,500 tons year-on-year.

Besides prunes, Uzbekistan exported to its trade partners some 17,600 tons of mug beans, 15,500 tons of dried grapes, 15,300 tons of cabbages, 11,100 tons of grapes, 7,600 tons of tomato, 6,200 tons of pomegranate, 3,600 tons of chili pepper, 1,400 tons of peanut, etc.

The main importers of Uzbek fruit and vegetables in the reporting period were Kazakhstan (44,800 tons), Russia (29,200 tons), China (19,500 tons), Kyrgyzstan (11,900 tons), Pakistan (9,200 tons), etc.

In 2022, Uzbekistan exported 1.7 million tons of fruit and vegetables worth $1.1 billion, decreasing by 18.5 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2021.

Meanwhile, from January through February 2023, Uzbekistan's overall trade turnover amounted to $8.9 billion – an increase of 2 percent or $176.4 million, compared to the same period last year ($8.7 billion). Export from Uzbekistan in the reporting period amounted to about $3.1 billion, while imports to Uzbekistan - were $5.7 billion.
