TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 4. The number of POS terminals in Uzbekistan amounted to 429,197 from January through April 2024, Trend reports.
According to the data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU), this figure has increased by 0.33 percent year-on-year (428,160 payment terminals in January-April 2023).
Uzbekistan’s Xalq Bank, by installing 46,191 POS terminals, has become the leader. Uzbekistan's National Bank ranks second with 40,771 payment terminals, followed by Aqrobank (39,818 POS terminals).
The CBU notes that the smallest number of POS terminals were registered in Uzbekistan’s TBC Bank – 27 and Bank Saderat Tashkent - 27 during this period.
Meanwhile, the number of POS terminals in Uzbekistan amounted to 430,066 as of April 2024. This figure has increased by 0.31 percent year-on-year (428,754 POS terminals as of April 2023).
Uzbekistan is actively promoting contactless payment systems by popularizing NFC technology in sales and service points throughout the country and by taking measures to provide QR codes in accordance with the requirements of trade and service points throughout the country.
