President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Monday officially welcomed his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul, IRNA reported.
President Gul, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived here Sunday afternoon on a four-day visit at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart.
Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi welcomed the Turkish president and his companions upon their arrival at the Mehrabad International Airport.
During the welcoming ceremony, the national anthems of the two countries were played and then the two Presidents reviewed the guard of honor.
The two Presidents then started their private talks after the welcoming ceremony.
During his stay, President Gul is to confer with senior Iranian officials on expansion of mutual and regional ties as well as international developments.
