Quake hits northeast Iran

( Irna ) - An earthquake with a 4.3 magnitude hit suburbs of 'Garmeh' region near the city of Jajarm in northeastern province of North Khorassan Monday morning.

According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake was registered at 08:07 hours local time (0437 GMT).

The tremor was epicentered in an area located 56.55 degrees in longitude and 37.09 degrees in latitude, the report added.

There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.

Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
