Iranian government experienced fall in debts volume

The volume of the debts of the Iranian government and its affiliated firms dropped by 5.12 percent over the first three months of the current Iranian fiscal year (starting March 20).

The total debts of the Iranian government and its affiliated firms reached 625 trillion tomans (about $19.2 billion according to official rate) by June 21.

The government accounts for 57 percent of the total figure and the rest is the share of its affiliated companies and firms.

According to the latest report by the research center of the Iranian parliament, the volume of the government debt in the last month of the preceding year stood at 339 trillion rials ($10.4 billion).

The figure grew by 5.6 percent to reach 358 trillion rials ($11 billion) by the end of the third month of the fiscal 2017\18.

However, the volume of the debts of the firms affiliated with the government has decreased by 20 percent to stand at 355 trillion rials ($10.9 billion).
