Georgia Materials 28 November 2006 12:52 (UTC +04:00)

(civil.ge) - NATO is expected to signal a number of important messages towards Georgia at its summit in Riga on November 28-29, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said at a news conference in Riga on November 27, reports Trend.

He said that Georgia should expect, firstly, NATO's reaffirmation of its full respect for Georgia's territorial integrity.

By number two: the call for a peaceful, I repeat, a peaceful solution for the conflicts concerning South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Scheffer said.

And number three, Scheffer said, NATO will reaffirm its support for Georgia's reforms in the frames of Georgia's Intensified Dialogue with NATO.

That is the message I expect from this summit. How it will exactly be worded I do not know yet, because the summit is not over yet. But those are, as far as I am concerned, the basic principles and I think they are important principles, Scheffer said.
