Chow Tsz-wing pleaded guilty at a hearing Monday to six charges of stealing the stainless steel bins from platforms along Hong Kong's Mass Transit Railway underground network.
He was captured on CCTV cameras and arrested when a cleaner saw him trying to wrench a bin off its mountings at Hong Kong's Admiralty station last month.
Officials believe he stole up to 13 bins. At his sentencing in Hong Kong's Eastern Court, he said he sold the metal bins worth 320 US dollars each to recycling companies.
