As many as 12 militants were killed in various areas of Swat in North West Frontier Province in the last 24 hours, the army said in a statement on Wednesday, Xinhua reported.
One soldier lost his life and three other soldiers were injured in clashes with militants, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations Athar Abbas said in the statement.
Security forces have made considerable progress in Mingora Town, a stronghold of militants in Swat district. House to house search is in progress in most of the areas, said the statement.
The army is also engaged in relief activities to help the people displaced due to the fighting between security forces and militants in the northwest, according to the statement.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik Wednesday vowed to eliminate all the terrorists in the country.
The security forces initiated the offensive against militants at the end of April after Taliban militants refused to vacate Buner district as promised and challenged the writ of the government.
