Ten people have been killed and many others injured following landslides in different districts in Nepal, local media reported Sunday, dpa reported.

Five members of a family and three of another were killed in the Kaski district, 200 kilometres west of the capital Kathmandu, the Republica news website reported.

Police said the landslide was triggered some 60 metres above the location of the families' houses.

Several other people have gone missing in the district following mudslides triggered by incessant rainfall.

A mother and her son were killed on Saturday night when a mudslide buried their home in the Syangja district in mid-western Nepal.

In far western Nepal, two fishermen were swept away by flash floods on the Seti River in the Bhajhang district, while a child was swept away by the Gahanha River in Dang.

Every year, hundreds of people in the Himalayan nation die and thousands are displaced in landslides and flash floods caused by monsoon rain.
