Retired General and former Aegean Troops Commander Hursid Tolon has been arrested in Turkey today on suspicion of involvement in organizing a military coup, the Zaman newspaper reported.

According to the pro-government newspaper Taraf, the Turkish armed forces prepared a military coup plan in 2010 aimed at overthrowing the government.

Under this plan, the army intended to overthrow the government after chaos that was supposed to take place in the country after explosions arranged by militaries in Istanbul mosques.

According to the newspaper, the plan drawn up in 2002-2003 was signed by former General Cetin Dogan.

The newspaper reports that authors of the document are high-ranking militaries suspected of involvement also in "Ergenekon" plan, which aimed at overthrowing the government. Nearly 200 politicians, journalists, lawyers, teachers, senior military and police officers were involved in the case.
