Turkey discloses 2M2021 volume of food shipment via local ports

The volume of food cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 1.4 million tons in the first two months of 2021, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend on Apr.1.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of the food transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 49,271 tons, and over 1.37 million tons of cargo have been handled by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Meanwhile, 16,708 tons of the mentioned cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 58.3 million tons in the first two months of 2021.

In the reporting period, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 4.7 million tons.

From January through February of this year, more than 53.5 million tons of cargo have been handled by ships flying the flags of other countries, added the ministry.

Meanwhile, 11.8 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

In February of this year, 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled through the ports, including 2.2 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 26.9 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Besides, more than 5.8 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey in the past month, added the ministry.
