Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the UAE chargé d'affaires on Oct. 11 over the arrest of Iranian teachers who were working in the country.

UAE police arrested nine Iranian teachers, who had been sent to work at Iranian schools in the United Arab Emirates, reportedly due to problems with their visas on October 7.

The Islamic Republic foreign ministry expressed protest over the issue and asked the UAE envoy to take urgent measures to release the arrested teachers, Iran 's Mehr news agency reported.

The UAE envoy emphasized that he will pursue the issue, adding the arrested teachers were only permitted to work in Dubai and no permission was issued for working in Abu Dhabi.

While Khalilollah Babalou, head of the Iranian Education Ministry's Center for International Affairs and Schools Abroad announced that the teachers may be released on Oct.12, Iranian media outlets reported that 13 Iranian women teachers are also summoned to court in the UAE due to same problem and may be arrested.
