Managing Director of Kazakh Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna Joint-stock company Nurjan Baidauletov met with Spanish Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communications Ana Maria Pastor within her official visit to Kazakhstan, Samruk-Kazyna said today.
Baidauletov is also a co-chairman of the Kazakh-Spainish Business Council.
"They discussed the development of Kazakh-Spanish trade and economic cooperation and the implementation of current joint projects in the field of transport and communications," a statement said.
Ana Maria Pastor informed about the readiness of the Spanish side to assist Kazakh companies in the transfer of new technologies, specialist training and support on the eve of EXPO 2017.
"We hope to strengthen our relations in the field of railway and construction of airports," Pastor said.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the participation of Spanish companies in the construction of Kazakh motor and railways.
Baydauletov added that the main task of the Kazakh-Spanish Business Council is to attract technologies in all Kazakh sectors, including agriculture, light industry, development of infrastructure, processing, etc. He praised its work and assured that the Business Council will present the concrete cooperation projects by the autumn of this year.
Following the visit, an agreement was reached to develop a "road map" of cooperation in the field of investments and technology transfer in such promising sectors as transport, infrastructure, logistics, power engineering, agro-industrial complex, tourism, engineering, chemicals and petrochemicals, ecology and environmental protection, and information technologies.
Finally, Minister Pastor invited Kazakh colleagues to Madrid to become familiar with the operating railway process - from the locomotive assembling to the destination of trains.
It should be stressed that this meeting was an important preparatory link on the eve of Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's official visit to Kazakhstan this fall.
