About 54 percent of Azerbaijani population use computers

The penetration rate of computers among the Azerbaijani population in 2011 was 54 percent, or 26 percent more compared to 2010, the analysis on the current state of information technologies in the country conducted by the Azerbaijan Marketing Association said.

The penetration rate of computers among home users in Azerbaijan in 2011 was 56 percent.

The growth hit 31 percent compared to 2010.

There is at least one personal computer in 61 percent of households in Baku. This index on the regions hits 45 percent.

About 38 percent of respondents plan to purchase computers within the next six months.
In general, about 22 computers fell to every 100 persons in Azerbaijan as of late 2011. This figure was 14 in 2010.

The vast majority of respondents (79 percent) use computers at home, 27 percent at work, 26 percent in Internet clubs, 10 percent in educational institutions.

About 58 percent use computers every day, 31 percent several times a week, 5 percent once a week, 3 percent several times a month, and 1 percent use computers once per month, 1 percent once in three months.

The penetration rate of notebooks among the population is 35 percent, 64 percent use desktop computers, and only 1 percent has Tablet PC.
