Azerbaijan is considering candidature for the post of Secretary General of UNESCO.
Countries that have submitted their candidates for the post of Secretary General of UNESCO appealed Azerbaijan for support, and now Baku considers these candidatures, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at the meeting with Ivonna A-Baki, a candidate from Ecuador, press office of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Trend .
The Minister said UNESCO is of particular priority for Azerbaijan, and the current cooperation is at a high level. The Minister said that in recent years, when the First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has been of Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, the relationship has further deepened.
Ivonna A-Baki informed the Minister of the pre-election platform, and promised, if elected, to make every effort to strengthen the activities of the organization around the world.
