Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Agayeva / Margaret Chan, the World Health Organization (WHO) General Director, will visit Azerbaijan at the invitation of Azerbaijan's First Lady, Mehriban Aliyeva, who is also President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
Elchin Amirbeyov, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Switzerland and Head of Azerbaijan's Permanent Representation to UN Geneva Department and International Organizations reported that Aliyeva conveyed an invitation to the WHO leader during her visit to Geneva.
The meeting discussed expansion of WHO's activities in Azerbaijan, including prospects for the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's cooperation with the WHO on humanitarian health projects.
Chan appraised the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's activities in Azerbaijan in implementing projects on health and voiced her interest in cooperation which will be further discussed during the General Director's visit. The embassy will be setting up arrangements for Ms. Chan's visit to Azerbaijan, Amirbeyov stressed.
The diplomat reported that during the meeting the WHO Director General congratulated the First Lady on her being awarded the WHO prize in the category 'For Exclusive Services and Mother, Child and Family Health Protection'. The First Lady was presented the award on 17 May within the framework of the session.
